Default A Considerable Odor

Does anyone recall reading the remarks ( elsewhere or in this paper ) about the odors before ?

Hi Howard

Actually I don't remember the part about the odor before. Another noticeable thing about the article is the statement about the Pinchin Street murder that "On the whole the police think it is not the work of the man who committed the previous murders. " Notwithstanding, of course, the Pinchin Street victim was included by the Metropolitan Police among the "Whitechapel Murders" albeit perhaps that was more a bureaucratic, filing decision than that the same killer was suspected.

Best regards

Chris

There is an article in the September 11, 1889 edition of the New York Herald that is cited in "The Ultimate", starting on page 535. On pg 540 it discusses the appearance of one of the wounds not matching with the putrefaction of the body and the stench of decay. I can't find a copy of the article to post, sorry.

Alan:
In the American version of the September 11th issue, there isn't any reference to the "putrefaction"....I wish there was because that's an excellent article SPE and Skinner used for the Ultimate.

This one in the Galveston paper mentions a "horrible smell".
