Default 2011 Song written by a Kiwi called Collins

Available to download on the net, I quite like it.

'I made my start in 1864,
my father died when I was just a little.
Was brought up by my mother and sister adored,
and worked as a clerk there in White Chapel.

Iím insane, Iím insane,
you tell me Iím insane.
Proclaiminí that my thoughts are on fire.
In my brain, in my brain,
we are not the same,
I simply grew a voice and left the choir.

Every day Iíd come home
from workiní on my own,
and study on my medical text books.
My mother and my sister
said to leave those books alone,
Said they would serve to make your mind crook.

Iím insane, Iím insane,
you tell me Iím insane.
Tell me that you know what is good for me.
In my brain, in my brain,
our worlds are not the same.
Whatís good for you
only serves to make me angry.

Id go to see the doctor,
his name was Mr. Brookes,
but I swear that he was feeding me a serum.
I wrote to Mr. Grimthorpe
and demanded he should look,
but Grimthorpe was supplyiní Brookes the poison.

Iím insane, Iím insane,
you tell me Iím insane.
Tell me I am nothing but a liar.
In my brain, in my brain
truth is not the same.
Thinkiní bout your brain just makes me tired.

I was taken out to Lambeth Infirmary,
so I took some mud and smeared it on my face.
I waited at the gate for the guards to turn away,
I snuck on through and made my escape.

My lover came to visit
when they drug me to the clinic,
before she did my memory just blurs.
When she tried to kiss my cheek,
to put my mind to sleep,
I tried to take a bite out of hers.

Iím insane, Iím insane,
ah, mamma, Iím insane.
Thereís no one on this earthíll understand.
In my brain in my brain
Iíve overgrown the frame,
and taken old Beaucannon by the hand.'

Well, Robert, TTC left quite a brood behind him in Kiwi Land, and elsewhere! But the chap must be related to Macnaghten as he does compound the errors in the Memo...
