Default Elizabeth Stride's Children

I have had a look around various sources (A-Z, casebook etc.) but cannot find the info I am looking for.
I am doing some research on the Princess Alice incident. It is well known that Stride claimed her husband and two children had gone down in the tragedy. But her husband lived on til 1884.
My question is this - did Elizabeth and John Stide actually have any children, and, if so, what were they named and when born?
Any help very gratefully received

Hi Chris,

I believe that at various times Liz had claimed that she had anywhere between two and nine children. Having fairly thoroughly researched the Stride/Princess Alice connection myself (wrote an article about it in Issue #3 of Casebook Examiner if you didn't see it), I know of no evidence of the couple having any children, at least children who survived into adulthood, and certainly there's no evidence that there was any truth in her story that she lost two children in the Princess Alice sinking.

Cheers,
Adam.

No children listed on either the 1871 or 1881
censuses for John Thomas and Elizabeth (Gustifson)
Stride. They were married in the first quarter of 1869
at St Giles in London. (Volume 1B, page 596)

John Thomas Stride was born in about 1821 in
Sheerness, Kent.

There is a 15 year old visitor named Charles Thew
born in Portsmouth listed on the 1871 census under
John Stride's household.

I have the pages saved on Ancestry, if you'd
like to have them Chris.

We are actually somewhat fortunate with Stride/Gustafsdotter as neither are particularly common names, so they are much easier researched than others like Mary Kelly, for instance.....

Cheers,
Adam.
