To Robert

I ike that idea very much: the investigator is his own chief suspect.

Sort of Whitechapel meets Oedipus.

Hi Jonathan

Well, he doesn't have to end up blind. But he finds the whole thing pretty hair-raising.

I always thought a vampire/monster killer amongst a factual story. A bit x files i know but , have the ripper crimes and the spring heeled jack sightings part of the same story.

Its already started with movies such as the modern remake of "the wolfman" with inspector Francis Abberline hunting the wolfman.

IIRC the amnesia story has been done before, but not in a Ripper context. It was in a film or TV movie made in about the 70's. I like the idea though but a lot of thought will have to go into making a satisfactory ending.

Hi Phillip

I seem to remember a non-Ripper story called The Moonlit Road by Ambrose Bierce which involved amnesia. Can't remember much about it, though, except it contained murder.

Here's another plot suggestion. Set in the present day an old cellar is discovered holding the mummified remains of a woman murdered and mutilated in much the same way as Marie Kelly. An investigation starts and it looks like the Ripper will at last be identified when the Ripperologist investigating the case is murdered in Ripper fashion. What do others think of the plot? Bearing in mind that it is strictly fiction.

One that focuses on the women. Makes them real people not just "those prostitutes Jack the Ripper"killed. With plenty of illustrations showing them and the surroundings they lived in.
Annie doing crochet in the doss house. Polly with her new bonnet. Kate doing her fire engine impression

Hi Belinda

As far as I know, there is no source for Kate's fire engine impression, but I don't mind keeping it in as long as it doesn't lead to an X Factor scenario.

Here's a crazy plot. McNaughton was the ripper, Montague Druitt was an amateur detective who identified him as the ripper. McNaughton murdered Druitt and made it look like suicide and then fitted him up for the crime.

Maybe showing Kate as she walks out the Police Station door into the darkness?
