A correspondance from one of the original researchers on the diary -

"The “watermark” I never noticed – probably because I never paid too much attention to the physical make up of document. I always assumed that people far better qualified and experienced than myself would have closely scrutinised it scientifically and forensically."



What we could have is a missed piece of evidence because others assume somebody else is looking at it.

We will have to wait to see what an examintaion of the actual Diary reveals.

It looks to me like the ink smudge has merely highlighted the texture of the paper itself beneath.
