Lightening up now, How, but what I want to know is where MacNaghten got the name 'Dowt' from?

Hoping this works, as the method for posting images has changed, and I'm struggling with it, but if is does work, I'm wondering if the 'Dowt' has been wrongly transcribed?

I have placed the scan a few posts ahead....
How

Curious too, that both of the letters to Sims, from Macnaghten and Littlechild appear to end with a similar sentiment.
'Now pardon me -- it is finished.' Littlechild.
'Don't trouble to reply to this.' Macnaghten.

I think the following link explains where MacNaghten was going with his reference to 'Devereux', read it and you might see where I am going. But what is surprising is the evidence of a certain 'Christian Olsen' half way through the murder case, a Norwegian sailor if you like.
Now where have I heard that name before?
I know, let's see if others do.
