Default Police Whereabouts

Hello All,

Long time Ripper enthusiast, new to these boards though.

I would like to pose a couple of questions for research I am doing. I am interested in the locations of various MP and Scotland Yard officials during the Ripper murders. Namely:

* Abberline
* Swanson
* Anderson

I was curious as to where each gentleman was based during the investigation. Any links to sites , other threads or direct info is greatly appreciated.

Default My own findings

So I looked into it further. Here are my deductions:

Abberline - Commercial Street Station
Swanson - Scotland Yard (Old)
Anderson - Switzerland

If anybody has anything to confirm or challenge these it would be welcomed.

Cheers

Matt:

Anderson wasn't in Switzerland for the entire 1888 inquiry.
You don't happen to have a copy of The Ultimate Sourcebook do you ?

Hi, Matt: Perhaps you have already read "Capturing Jack the Ripper" by Neil Bell who we are fortunate to also have here on the Forum. His book is an excellent source for police work, background and presence. Absolutely excellent!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the heads up on both books. I actually haven't read either, but will look into them. I do have others, I have "Jack The Ripper: Scotland Yard Investigates" for example. I have also done some digging on Casebook which offers a little but not a lot.

The date range I was looking at was between Sept 1st - Sept 7th, basically between the first two murders. I believe that places Warren in France, Anderson in Switzerland (you're right How, he is recalled from holiday once the investigation becomes a hot mess.

Still looking to place Swanson and Abberline though. I figured Swanson wold still be based out of CID, but Abberline still not 100% positive.

I'll look into the books, and probably add them to the mini library I have at this stage.

Thank you again
