Never liked the DH. Water's down the game and takes away some strategy.

I agree, Cris. It definitely makes the AL game a different game....that is of course unless you have a slugging hurler like Tony Cloninger of the Braves or Steve Carlton of the Phils were. Cloninger knocked two grand slams out in the same game once. Carlton was never an easy out.

I remember when I was 12 and going 200 miles from north Alabama to Atlanta ( the year the Braves moved from Milwaukee to Georgia ) in 1966 with my pal's family to see a Braves game....around the 4th of July, 1966.

There must have been 12 Hall of Famers in the game. One who isn't and shouldn't be was Pete Rose. Rose hit two homers....one of only two times he managed that in his 20 some year history.

Thanks Sean....

A little bit of grilled chicken, corn on the cob, steak and a cold Guinness or two or ten await you if you can make it over.
All the tomato pie is gone.

Saw this 128 year old baseball-reference which demonstrates our love for the game.
Baseball is a statistician's dream sport.

Charlie Comiskey was the parsimonious owner of the 1919 Chicago White Sox, a.k.a. Black Sox. They threw the '19 series to the Cincinnati Reds.

Here he is in his St. Louis Browns Stockings uniform. The Browns were very good in 1888....but lost to the N.Y. Giants in a precursor to the World Series. St. Louis has won more
World Series than any National League franchise ( 11 ). The Browns were in a league known as The American Association. Their owner, Chris van der Ahe, was credited with inventing the word 'fan' ( from 'fanatic').

I put this up for Stan and Cris Malone, who I believe are Cardinal fans.
