No Need To Panic...........
It isn't often that one comes across an newspaper editorial/column which advocated calm in what appeared to be an escalating series of mutilation murders. Some theorized that the killer would take his murderous bent indoors...others wrung their hands at the thoughts of him taking it to the West End....some pondered whether the Gateshead murder was an out of town one-off....and so on.
The phrasing in the advocacy to calm seems eerily similar to the statement Robert Anderson issued as to the general populace not having anything to worry about....as the murders had all been committed in the same locale and to the same sort of woman.
Easy for Anderson to make that claim years after the murders abated....but not so easy for the Gazette's writer to make it on the day of the Double Event.
