Default Quiz Round 1: May 8-14

Hi everyone!

And the topic for Quiz #1....
Music of the 1980's

The majority of you would remember the music of this decade quite well, so best of luck!!!

1.) When in the 1980's did supergroup ABBA split up? (Double points if you can name the month as well as the year)

2.) Who was the lead singer of Van Halen until 1985?

3.) Which group was a one hit wonder with the song Turning Japanese?
(Double points if you can name the year the song was made)

4.) Who had a hit in 1986 with the sexy song Touch Me ?

5.) Which Australian band had several big hits in the early 80's, with songs like The Boys Light Up and Reckless ?

6.) They just keep on making great songs.....what song did The Rolling Stones have another chart-topper with in 1981?

7.) Name 5 of the singers who participated in 1985's USA for Africa concert?
(Double points if you can name 10)

8.) Madonna's hit, but controversial song Like a Prayer comes from what year?

9.) One of those weird songs which had an even weirder video...
Who did Sledgehammer become a hit song for?
(Double points if you can name the year)

10.) And a nice easy one to finish off...
Before going solo, which band was George Michael the lead singer of?

Apologies to everyone here who had some favourite 80's music which missed out on a question...

Best of luck, and enjoy!!

Cheers,
Adam.

Adam,

Come back again with a quiz I might know something about and I'll certainly give it a shot -- but 80s music, no way.

Incidentally, a "wee bairn" you most assuredly are not.

Hi Adam,

I am afraid my knowledge of pop music is a little vague after Bing Crosby and Vera Lyn, but would the answer to question 10 be, Village People?

Hi guys!

Don:

Hmmm...well what sort of topics would suit your fancy?
Any suggestions are welcome!

And thanks for your comments....

John:

Sorry!
George Michael may be a little weird at times, but a Village People singer he ain't.

Cheers,
Adam.

That one is the only one I know.

PS Adam, I thought "supergroup" meant a group formed from people who had already been in other famous groups - which as far as I know, wasn't the case with ABBA.

WHAM! I have the answer to No. 10! For No. 4, the people who had the hit with "Touch Me" -- could that be a re-release of The Doors hit?

Hi everyone!

Robert:

I'm not really sure, you're probably right!
I just remember hearing the phrase "70's supergroup ABBA" somewhere before, so I thought I'd use that in my question to make it sound good....
Let's just call them a group.

Chris:

Thanks for your answer! Unfortunately I can't tell you whether it's right or wrong until this round is finished, though....you'll just have to sweat on whether 1 answer is enough to get you across the line!

Sorry, no go with "Touch Me" being a Doors hit....not this one anyway. That's actually a little scary to think about them in being in THAT video clip....yikes!!!

Anyway, thanks for the participation so far, guys! Keep 'em coming!!

Cheers,
Adam.
