Default Unique/Rare Ripper Artifact

Hello

This is my very first post on the site and I hope that someone may be able to point me in the right direction.

I currently have in my possession a very rare and extremely important artifact in the Ripper case and I am wondering if anyone knows of any sale rooms or specialists that may assist in advertising and sale of the item as there is a very niche market for this kind of item.
I currently have the original metal building sign taken from the Model Dwellings building on Goulston Street were the double murders of Elizabeth Stride and Catherin Eddowes took place on September 30th 1888.
The sign reads "No's 108 to 119" and this is the building were PC Long discovered the blood stained piece of apron and the famous Goulston Graffiti left by the Ripper!
The sign can be clearly seen in a vast majority of photographs taken of the building especially in the book "Jack The Ripper - the final solution" written by Stephen Knight.
Any info would be appreciated

Thanks

Mark

Welcome Mark.....

If I may make a suggestion....if you have a photo or if you can provide a scan of the item, that might be in your favor.

It sounds interesting.

Hi Howard

I think ive managed to attach some pictures. There should be a picture of the building as it one stood, and a picture of the sign.

Thanks

Excellent Mark !

If you would, would you mind giving us the background on how you managed to get your hands on the sign ?

And thank you for deciding to bring this to JTRForums.

Talk about history coming to life !

Yes of course the provenance is as follows:

The sign actually belongs to my father in law who is now a retired police officer. He has always had an interest in the case and around the 1970's he took it upon himself to visit the location. Upon arrival he discovered that a demolition team were in attendance and part of the building was being demolished/renovated. The sign was hanging by a single screw so he asked one of the buildings if he could have it as it was being scrapped. He was allowed to take it and its been in his garage ever since!

Big props to Pops, Mark ! Great of him to take hands on measures.

Sitting here thinking of all those who looked at that sign...particularly on the night of the Double Event.

I know Howard its unreal when you think about it! Like my father in law I too am very interested in the case and just looking at the sign kind of hits home the reality of what happened on that fateful evening!
We had the same conversation this evening and its facinating to think that the sign witnesed everything!

I'm glad that you find the item as interesting as we do!
