Default Who Are These People?

See if you can guess who they are. Hints:
1) The woman and child died in the 1900 Galveston hurricane.
2) The man later remarried and become an ordained minister.
3) Prior to the hurricane, the man worked at a YMCA.
4) The man was forced to wear a nun's habit during the hurricane since his clothing had been torn off and he sought refuge in a convent.

Interesting picture. I don't have the answer and couldn't find the answer.

Another bit of trivia about the Galveston hurricane is that future movie director King Vidor remembered that hurricane. He was about six years old on that day. He later directed the tornado sequence in 'Wizard of Oz' which was based on his memories of the 1900 hurricane.

The ventriloquist on the left is trying to get the attention of the woman on the right.

Of course this is a research challenge...

What I find is a number of comments on a man whose clothes were ripped off, who donned a nun's habit and then helped rescue people. This is even noted in the recent book 'Isaac's Storm'. I don't find a name. St. Mary's orphanage was destroyed, 10 nuns and up to 100 children were swept away and killed. So I assume this man was in another area, possible the Ursuline Convent area.

There are also interesting comments about survivors in general who were wearing nun's habits afterward. There seemed to be a lot of nun's habits available. I find that interesting because I didn't think nuns had a lot of clothing.

Robert wins - again - although Anna was ever-so-close.

Bonus question - what was the name of the boy's dog?

And that, my lord, concludes the case for the defence.
