Have a great holiday Americans everywhere.
Don't worry about us coming to take the colonies back, we couldn't organise a screw in a brothel.

Congratulations to the Americans on your independence. But oh...did you realise the leap in the dark you were taking?.....oh, and the risks you were running?.....oh, and isn't there something a little bit xenophobic about wanting to govern yourselves?....oh dear, oh dear, the world is coming to an end.....

Seriously, it's been a success story. Except for Country and Western music.

Yea that whole federal thing of separate disprate states coming together to form a strong powerful and highly successful nation was never going to work.

But they weren't terribly disparate. And on the odd occasion that they were, the ones who wanted to leave were forced to remain, by virtue of military conquest. Thank goodness the EU army wasn't ready in time.

Hot dogs, fireworks, beer and baseball...4th of July staples.

For all folks interested in the greatest game ( Baseball )...a really interesting program which I just watched on Netflix.....Fastball.

I found a good link to the program on an alternative site, here :

http://putlocker.live/Fastball-onlin...er-31-467.html

Who, in the 150 year history of major league baseball, had the fastest pitch ?

You might be surprised to learn who as previously conducted tests on Bob Feller, Walter Johnson, and Nolan Ryan place Ryan & Feller slightly ahead of Cuban relief pitcher Ardolis Chapman ( who tossed one in at 105 mph) based on a different test.

Excellent show...which also mentions Steve Dalkowski...who it is said had the fastest pitch of anyone, major league or otherwise, ever...period.

The Netflix doc on knuckleball pitchers was pretty good too. Don't think there are any in the Major Leagues right now.

Cris:

Steve Wright (Red Sox) and R.A. Dickey( Blue Jays) are the last two active practitioners.

Thanks How. Didn't know there were any left. Outside of maybe the Royals, I'm a little weak on American League rosters. Never liked the DH. Water's down the game and takes away some strategy.

Here's a good Fourth of July article. While government bureaucrats sat on their hands and did nothing, a veteran saved a bald eagle in a unique way with a semi-automatic rifle.
