Today's that day...

Three hour episode of The Revolution....beginning with Benedict Arnold, Ethan Allen & The Green Mountain Boys, Fort Ticonderoga, and John Adams's selection of George Washington as Commander in Chief.

By the way, if you get a chance, check out 10 Things You Didn't Know About The American Revolution with Henry Rollins.

That program focuses on obscure but very important historical facts/events such as these :

***The ultimate success of the Americans, in large part, was due to a black man,James Armistead, a slave and spy who, upon his emancipation, purchased slaves of his own.

***More Americans died in capitivity than in actual combat....many upon British POW ships in New York Harbor :

Another bit of what makes our country so special.

The Boys of '36.....sons of lumberjacks go head to head with the Nazi shitbags in the 1936 Olympic rowing event...and win.

Rowing was one of America's most popular sports in the 1930's. Rowing was also a means to a meal and a roof over your head to some of the University of Washington students who took Gold in 1936.

Worth a watch

Default lumberjacks

Hello Howard. Lumberjacks? They're OK.

Why? you ask.

They sleep all night and work all day.

Cheers.

Default clothing makes the . . .

Hello Robert. Yes, I see what you mean--they DO look a bit like women's clothes.

Of course, the salient question is, Did he hang out in bars?

Cheers.
