Little further away from her now, so you'll have to settle for some Raymond Burr ( villain in Rear Window) summer smoked sausage. Deal ?

The little lady/nurse was Thelma Ritter ( great character actress).

Philly's changed so much over the years. Market street is a mass of over priced parking lots. That one really jarred my pickles when had to go to Center City for I forget what now. It was a few years back and I hadn't been there for quite some time. That really rattled me for some reason.

I'm moving out though. Escaping to a remote beach on the Delaware Bay in about 20 days. Sea gulls and skeeter bugs for neighbors. I'm going to enjoy it.

But have a rib, wing and some cobbity corn and dream of Philly before the department stores left.

Having cobbity corn, steak, and other comestibles today. The ribs were finished off yesterday.

Yeah, the old town ain't what she used to be. Finding a parking spot down there ( 7 blocks in all four directions from City Hall ) is like trying to find a virgin in a seaport brothel. Murder on the wallet when you do.

Cobbity corn? You're making that up, surely.

You should eat more sensibly named foods like pan haggerty, cullen skink, toad-in-the hole, faggots and bubble and squeak.

I added toad as an edit. Lamb chop toad is one of my favourites.

My dad used to bang on about a dish called 'baby's head and two'. I thought I was descended from cannibals until I learned it meant Kate and Sidney pud and two veg.

Not forgetting stargazy pie, singing hinnies, spotted dick, angels on horseback or Dorset knobs (lovely with some stinking bishop).

One name I've just discovered - I ate it as a kid - is love in disguise : stuffed hearts.
