Default Google Maps - 1893-6 overlay

Anyone seen this? You can now overlay the 1893-96 OS maps of London on top of Google maps.

Yes Jon, thank you.

All sorts of things are labeled on this map. And it has special historical information. For instance to the left of Broad Street is "Site of The Doghouses." Where the city hounds were kept in Elizabethan times.

Thus the interesting historical information to be gleaned in the vicinity of Mitre Square. Although not similarly marked with Gothic lettering, I would not otherwise have known that the original "Ald Gate" from which the area gets its name was to the east of the location of Kate Eddowes' murder.
