We got some chocolate in case kids knocked on the door tonight, but it's 8.40 and so far nothing. So I might, reluctantly and with a heavy heart, have to eat it myself.

100 years ago, Halloween was a pretty big deal in Philadelphia....probably in Boston, New York, Washington, Baltimore, and Chicago as well...with parades and various contests.

Best Halloween costume I ever saw was a little Dracula with a very long, black cape that covered all of his body and fell in folds around him onto the floor of the porch. He looked like a real little guy, maybe 6 years old, with an angelic face.

He politely said thanks for the candy and suddenly he straightened to his full height~close to six feet since he was a high school kid with a baby face~and with a swirl of his cape he disappeared into the night.

That was about 30 years ago and I thought about JtR who was reputed to disappear with a swirl of his cape into the London fog.
