Default Who IS This?

This is a computer simulation of a well-known literary figure. WHO does it represent?

How come the computer simulation is in black and white?

Oh - I forgot to mention that I disguised the image URL to prevent backtracking.

Come on, you lot - let's see some speculation.

This man is a fictional character that has nothing to do with the Whitechapel Murders.

I've got a series of these waiting since we haven't had a competition for quite a while. I'm also working on some games that are Linford-proof.

As a teaser, here is the next in the series. Another computer simulation of a famous fictional literary character - WHO is she?

I'll run these for a week, so the first competition will end next Saturday. That will give you an extra week to (try to) identify her.

In case you were wondering, these are composite sketches rendered by the same software that police departments use, using the characters' descriptions from the original works of literature in which the characters appeared. Myself, I would have never guessed the identity of either of these two, so you have your work cut out for you. Just like Jack did.

BTW, that same software was used to produce that composite sketch of JTR that appeared a few years ago, in which he looked like a Mexican bandit circa 1900. You know,

Good luck with that - Howard's been looking for a clue for years now.

Actually, the first exchange in this series was a pretty good clue, come to think of it.

It'll be hard to post clues that The Talented Mr. Linford won't be able to hunt down, but I'll post one a day until it's solved or it's over.

I've already given a clue of sorts on the first, but here's another as a bonus:

This male character appeared in a film that is considered a classic of the genre. It was also unusual in that the dialogue in the film was almost an exact match of that in the novel from which it was adapted.

There. I've said too much already.
