Each mouse takes 3 minutes to eat.

100 mice would take one cat 300 minutes to eat.

For 100 mice to take only 100 minutes to eat, would require 3 cats on the job, i.e. each cat will eat 33 and one third mice in 100 minutes. 3 multiplied by 33 and one third equals 100.

Yeah, 3 cats eat 1 mouse per minute, so they will eat 100 mice in 100 minutes

Hi Iselio,

Are three cats each eating three mice in three minutes, thus making a total of nine mice?

Or are three cats each eating one mouse in three minutes, thus making a total of three mice?

Not that it really matters. I won't get the right answer anyway.

Regards,

Simon

That WAS the explanation - lol

1 cat eats 1 mouse in 3 minutes so 3 cats eat 3 mice in 3 minutes, therefore 3 cats eat 1 mouse between them in 1 minute

So 3 cats eat 100 mice in 100 minutes

Is this a trick question?
