Ripperana says it is the journal "Sherlock Homes would have read" so we've got that in its corner. Also, most rare books collections I get shown have Ripper and Holmes stuff intermixed.

Not to mention I find the Wall Street references incredibly offensive. I suppose next comes Semite baiting and other money lending imagery. We're not going there.

And so forth. Personally, I don't find that one character excludes the other, and Sherlock Holmes is the quintessential armchair detective that all ripperologists strive to be. I suppose that it will eventually be put to a popular vote via a poll, so I will wait for the other suggestions, if any.
Hi Tim

The image of Holmes and Watson might be more relevant as a logo for this site if in any of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories Holmes battled the Ripper, or else Doyle himself had more involvement in the Ripper case.

As it is, those two redoubtable and storied crime fighters might be seen to be discussing the Hound of the Baskervilles rather than the Whitechapel murders. So to my mind the image is misleading and not really appropriate as a logo for this site. Just my opinion.

Jon, thanks for the offer to design the logo. Not something I would like to tackle, but I will continue to advise and proffer my opinion as and when it might be appropriate to do so.

Chris

Sorry, Sir Bob. I am just making an observation about the rather odd choice of image to be put on the Wall Street sign that looks, to my mind, like a Ripper-like character and how some have come to view financiers and speculators these days.

I especially like the logo, all the accompanying illustration needs is for someone to pop the Whitechapel Murders File in the gentleman with the pipe`s left hand.

I apologize for being so thinned skin. I feel like we all have bulls-eyes on our backs these days.

I can't really draw it but I would suggest the usual magnifying glass looking at a bloody knife or similar with jtr.forums.com written on it

Anyone want to take a stab (sorry, I couldn't resist) at Nemo's design?

I quite like the "Industrial Strength Ripperology" motto.
